This work was a homage to the collaboration between Duchamp and Man Ray. Dada objects strongly influenced this wall hanging. The ironing plate in this first version of 1980 (2nd version 2001) is an inverted reference to Man Ray’s projecting tacks in his Cadeau of 1921 is made. This work was bought my then teacher artist (the late) Robert Hodgins for the princely sum of R100 and formed part of his partner Jannie Neethling’s collection.
