The National Gallery in London had, many decades ago commissioned exact copies of Victorian upholstered leather lounges for visitors to the gallery to sit on, and enjoy the treasured art works on display. Recently it was decided to auction these off – to be replaced with more appropriate contemporary seating. At auction the estimate cost was set at 800 Pounds a piece. Achieving prices way above the estimate. One was sold for….. Eighteen Thousand pounds! The vultures swooped down to outbid all others in their ambition to own these up replicas.
