Emily Hobhouse died one hundred years ago on 8th June 1926.

One of the greatest humanitarians and social activists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Supporter of universal suffrage and a pacifist who, single-handedly tried to negotiate an end to the patriarchal 1st World War in 1916. Hero of the Boer cause, her ashes are interned at the Women’s monument in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
