Ten gelignite (explosives) boxes re-purposed to form a symmetrical red cross. On the acrylic 120 small rectangular coffin shapes symbolically represent the (approximate) total number of men who died on war service from Orange and districts, NSW. Australia. Each box has a simulated flame-bulb giving off an erratic pulsating flame. The burning of candles and flames are strongly associated with the symbolic commemoration and mourning for the dead.
