We are still dominated by chauvinistic white colonially-minded men in our settler societies. The fashions have altered slightly over a century but the message of dominance is constant. The dated but crucial social issues of racism, misogyny and class bigotry remain unaddressed. The invisible but palpable presence still bears the culpability of neglectful intransigence, reflecting a disturbing reactionary power imbalance – ever prevalent.
