‘Sold’ – Prototype of the Perfect Australian Artwork – 2012

This work is a tongue-in-cheek statement addressing the contemporary professional art world. It is made up of red dots – symbols universally used in galleries to denote art works which have been sold. Although indecipherable, it is recognizable as a semiotic text in parenthesis, It’s author’s signature, or imprimatur is located at the the bottom right, also comprised of ‘sold’ signs. This is my larger second version (1st 1992) which was originally inspired by Komar and melamid’s Quotation of 1972.
