Through the Looking Glass – 2025

Reverting to a well trodden trope, the abstracted figure painting, while still visible, extends beyond the frame. Analysing the relationship between the image and its framing device has long been s concern of the artist. Combining a rectangular format with an overlaying oval which partially obscures the painting very much references tradition, but also consciously challenges it in a sacrilegiously contemporary manner.
