Pareidolia – 2023

Oil on canvas. H50 x W40 cm

Still life of a jug of water positioned on a folded patterned common kitchen cloth. The effect of the pattern as seen through the jug diffracts and amplifies the image. The new image appears to be the visage of a fish now trapped in the jug. This transformative quality is known as Pareidolia or visual synesthesia.
