Assemblage; shaped parquet tiles, period frame H54.5 x W59.5 cm

At Art Schools in the Seventies the current (very dry) fashions then being promoted and taught were: “Hard Edge” and “Re-contextualization”.

Here I constructed a ‘re-contextualization’. I cut and shaped real second-hand parquet floor wooden tiles into a (forced) perpectival pattern; a receding plane or floor. The floor was thus relocated on the wall behind a picture frame – too clever by half…
